Course Description

The Water Safety Instructor, also known as WSI™, course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the courses presented in the Swimming and Water Safety program to all age groups; all of the courses listed above, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors.

Pre-requisite skills 

To participate in the Water Safety Instructor course, individuals must:

Be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled lesson of this course.

Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:

1. Swim the following strokes consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4 (see Appendix B)
Front crawl-25 yards

• 1. Be at least 16 years of age by the end of training
  2. Pass swim skills evaluation: Candidates must demonstrate and proficiently complete 25 yards of the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly
  3. Maintain back float for 1 minute
  4. Maintain treading water for 1 minute

By registering you are stating that you can complete the pre-requisite testing. There will be no refunds for not passing this. You must pass the pre-requisite testing in order to continue into the course.
